Tare (they/any) is a trans Agender experimental artist whose archive of work continues to compound through time and life experience. Soto Zen, Hellenistic Astrology, Tarot, and Psychology connect their explorations to their art practice. The surface of the body is the most immediate place where they express the truth of the present moment. When their work takes a form outside of their body, they create with locally reclaimed material in support of environmental awareness and the collapse of capitalism. When working in collaboration, they prefer hands-on immersive roles, as well as mentoring, teaching, and volunteering.
Tare recieved their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Practice from Portland State University with an emphasis in gender and sexualities, and sustainable fashion design. Additionally, they pursued coursework at PRATT Institute, California College of the Arts, School of Visual Arts, and Rhode Island School of Design. While at PSU, they volunteered with the brain injury community at Art on the Brain, an art social offered by Brain injury Connections North West in Portland Oregon. Prior to the pandemic, they volunteered with Creative Growth in Oakland, California, a non-profit organization that supports adult artists with developmental disabilities. They have also taught art to children and young adults.
